Ring Sizing

Some advice for secretly figuring out the size for a ring you are gifting...

Borrow a ring that your person wears and take it to a jeweler, who will be able to size it for you, or use an SK ring sizer to denote size. You can also use a pen and paper (or your finger) to document ring size by tracing the inside of the ring on a piece of paper and taking it to a jeweler, who will be able to figure out the diameter of the ring from your sketch. Or, put the ring on one of your own fingers, then take a pen and draw a line on your finger directly below where the ring is sitting. After that, a jeweler can use a ring sizer to find the best “match,’ given where the line is on your finger.

Enlist the help of friends. Have one of your person’s friends ask him or her to go ring shopping (“for the friend”) or have the friend ask your person directly—subtlely, as in, “some day it’s sure to happen.”

Measure the finger while the person is asleep. This must be done very carefully, using string or measuring tape. Once you have the measurement of his or her finger, you can convert it to ring size online.

Of course we always recommend getting it perfect the first time. To get the most accurate info, size the finger the ring will be worn on using an SK sizer. We can send you one in just a couple days.
